AMES, Iowa -- Findings from six recently completed agricultural alternative research projects are now available on the web site of the Leopold Center for Sustainable Agriculture. Summaries (both four-page and one-page versions) can be read and/or downloaded at the Leopold Center's website here.

Project results are shown from all three Leopold Center initiatives: Marketing and Food Systems, Ecology and Policy. Among the new entries:
• Is the meat goat enterprise profitable and sustainable?
• Pottawattamie County Farm to Fork
• New Farmer Jump Start Project
• Strategies to stabilize locally grown produce for year-round sales: A feasibility study
• Integrated soil and weed management production systems for perennial food crops
• Shaping a functional and sustainable biofuels industry through bridging industrial needs with farmer production capabilities.

Seven other project summaries were released earlier in 2010 and can be found on the same page, or by searching for specific topics of interest in the research results section.

The Leopold Center has operated a competitive grants program since 1988 for research, education and demonstration projects, and has funded more than 420 projects. These summaries show major findings, impact and outreach from each project, and are condensed from the final project reports submitted by principal investigators or researchers.
