Part three of Greenhorn Grazing program set for July 22

CHARITON, Iowa--Iowa State University Extension will sponsor the third session of the Greenhorn Grazing series on July 22 starting at 1:30 p.m. at the ISU McNay Research Farm. The meeting will be conducted at the McNay headquarters located 6.5 miles southwest of the Chariton airport.

The first two sessions of Greenhorn Grazing each had 45 producers attend. Producers new to the Greenhorn Grazing program may attend the third or later sessions for $15 per meeting.

Session three will include discussions on pasture supplementation strategies, annual forage crops, mineral strategies, pasture watering systems and fencing alternatives. The session includes presentations by grazing specialists and field demonstrations at local pastures at the McNay Research Farm. This program is supported by the Leopold Center for Sustainable Agriculture, the Iowa Beef Center and Dow AgroSciences. An evening meal is included.
