Iowa State fellow receives food leadership honor along with Michelle Obama, others

AMES, Iowa -- The James Beard Foundation announced its leadership awards in New York City last week, and among the honorees are Leopold Center Distinguished Fellow Fred Kirschenmann, recognized for his lifelong work furthering sustainable food and farming practices. Kirschenmann and nine other awardees, including First Lady Michelle Obama, will be honored guests at a dinner hosted by the foundation on Oct. 12.
