CSP signup Applications to enroll in the Natural Resources Conservation Service's 2013 Conservation Stewardship Program (CSP) must be submitted by May 31. The program pays enrolled producers who maintain a high level of conservation on their land. The 2013 signup provides about $175 million to enroll an additional 12.5 million acres. For assistance, visit your local USDA NRCS office. Also check with the National Sustainable Agriculture Coalition.
CRP signup The USDA's Conservation Reserve Program has a current signup for new acres beginning May 20 and ending June 14. Details here

Local foods and school gardens The Meskwaki Settlement near Tama is filling three AmeriCorps VISTA positions to work on local food systems. Applications are due in May [PDF]. The Volunteer Center of Story County is hiring two AmericCrops VISTA workers to manage gardens in the Ames Community School District; applications are due June 5.
