signingThe 2010 Pesek Colloquium on Sustainable Agriculture was held on Thursday, October 14 at the Iowa State University Memorial Union. This year's speaker was Bill McKibben, writer and American environmentalist. McKibben spoke on Sustaining life on a tough new planet. About 700 people attended the lecture. McKibben is an advocate of alternative energy, localized economies, sustainable practices, and the author of many books, including The End of Nature. His essays have been featured in The New York Times, The Atlantic Monthly, Harpers, and Mother Jones. His latest book, Eaarth: Making a Life on a Tough New Planet, was released in April 2010.
