Iowa Learning Farms October Webinar: Energy Conservation and Efficiency

Date: Wednesday, October 19th, 2011

Start: 12:00 pm

Location: Online webinar

Contact: John Lundvall, ILF field coordinator, 515-294-5429

The Iowa Learning Farms October webinar will feature Mark Hanna, who will present “ISU Farm Energy: Energy Conservation and Efficiency.” The webinar is part of a series, hosted by ILF, held on the third Wednesday of each month. The webinars are held over the noon hour through Adobe Connect. All that is needed to participate is a computer with Internet access.

Previous case studies show the potential for energy savings on Iowa’s farms. ISU Farm Energy is developing educational materials for farmers and utility providers to raise awareness of energy efficiency practices on farming operations, including minimum tillage, machinery maintenance, livestock ventilation and other topics. With support from the Iowa Energy Center and Iowa State University Extension, this project will help farmers and utility providers work together to improve farm energy efficiency and reduce on-farm energy use. This webinar will specifically address tips and techniques for minimizing energy consumption during fall and spring field operations.

Hanna will be able to answer questions from webinar “attendees” via the Adobe Connect chat box.
