Farm to Fork Panel Discussion

Date: Tuesday, November 8th, 2011

Start: 7:00 pm End: 8:30 pm

Location: Campanille Room, ISU Memorial Union, Ames

Contact: Courtney Long, Farm to ISU Coordinator, farm2isu@iastate.edu

The Farm to Fork Panel Discussion will have panelists from around the local food system in Ames including:

  • producers
  • purchasers
  • retail
  • ISU Dining
  • consumers
  • researchers and extension that help bridge the gap between all individuals.

This broad spectrum will help to reveal different circumstances of the food system and what goes into decision making and 'behind-the-scences' activities for all of those included in a food system.

Farm to ISU and Buy Fresh, Buy Local personnel will present each panelist, and direct questions to individuals through the first portion of the discussion.  The questions will be formatted to bring to light the difficulties and opportunities associated with local food and the local food movement.  Once questions and discussions have commenced between panelists, individuals in the audience will have a chance to also ask any questions that they have.

At the conclusion of the panel discussion, everyone is welcome to mingle and discuss various ideas and additional questions they may have between peers, panelists, Buy Fresh, Buy Local and Farm to ISU employees.
