This is the second of three winter webinars hosted by the Food Access and Health Work Group (FAWG), supported by grants from the Leopold Center and W.K. Kellogg Foundation with fiscal administration provided by the University of Northern Iowa.

The webinar will feature two national leaders in the food gardening movement

  • Rose Hayden Smith, Strategic Initiative Leader, Sustainable Food Systems at the University of California Cooperative Extension and
  • Roger Doiron, Founding Director, Kitchen Gardeners Internationals.

The objectives of this webinar are to highlight the importance and value of food gardening in this country from an historical context and to outline the many benefits of food gardening including the impact on self-sufficiency, individual/community food security, consumption and health.

Part 2 of Growing Solutions: Food Gardening to Advance Food Security and Health will be held Thursday, March 22, 2012 from 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm CST. The first winter webinar was January 12.
