2012 Iowa Water Conference: Improving Iowa Watersheds: Striking the Right BalanceThe Iowa Water Conference is a collaborative effort featuring participating conferences of Ag and the Environment, Floodplain Management, Iowa Learning Farms, Stormwater and Water Monitoring. The goal of this partnership is to create greater awareness of Iowa urban and agricultural water issues through sustainable watershed management.Attendees can choose from a wide variety of workshops related to watershed management - urban and agriculture -- as well as technical and general sessions.
Keynote speaker will be Robert Hirsch, U.S. Geological Survey, on "Trends in Nutrient Flow from the Upper Midwest". A Leopold Center educational grant is supporting a presentation by Doug Siglin, federal affairs director for the Chesapeake Bay Foundation, on "Urban and Agricultural Green Policy and Practices to Heal the Waters of the Chesapeake Bay."
