Symphony of the Soil is a feature-length film that explores the complexity and mystery of soil. Filmed on four continents and sharing the voices of some of the world’s most knowledgeable soil scientists and farmers, the film looks at how soil is formed, its life cycle, human uses and misuses, and its role in addressing global issues. It will premiere this month at the Smithsonian Natural History Museum during one of the world’s largest environmental film festivals. Deborah Koons Garcia made her mark with a 2004 film about genetically modified food, The Future of Food, and runs her own production company, Lily Films.

Deborah Koons Garcia will lead a discussion of the project following the screening.
