The Central Wisconsin Prairie Chicken Festival provides visitors with opportunities to view Greater Prairie Chickens on their breeding grounds, go on guided grassland bird tours with resident experts, and learn about Wisconsin's unique grasslands through art, science, and literature.  The event alsowill include local foods and vendors, nature art and book sales, wildlife demonstrations, a silent auction and children's crafts.

Activities will be offered at four locations throughout central Wisconsin located near Wisconsin Rapids:

  • Buena Vista Wildlife Area
  • Leola Marsh Wildlife Area
  • Paul J. Olson Wildlife Area, and
  • Historic Point Basse.

A Friday night Grassland Gala at Hotel Mead in Wisconsin Rapids features special guest speakers, live music, and dance performances at the Hotel Mead, Wisconsin Rapids. Items also are posted on YouTube under "A Spring Grassland Festival."

*Reservations and additional fee are required for entry into observation blinds and are on a first come-first serve basis.
