Ames Edible Garden Tour

Date: Saturday, September 7th, 2013

Start: 12:00 pm End: 4:00 pm

Location: Various gardens in Ames, Iowa

Contact: Marie Louise Ryan, mldryan@iastate.edu

The Ames Edible Garden Tour offers a snapshot of the diversity of Ames’ urban gardens including vegetable, fruit, flower, herb—and yes, chicken and hops—production.

Garden hosts are eager to share with novice and expert gardeners alike what can be grown with limited space and resources. The tour is free and open to the public.

Gardens will be open between Noon and 4 p.m., or visitors may join an organized group bike tour of the 9 gardens. The bike tour will depart at noon from Brookside Park (plan to arrive before departure time). Bring water and a snack. Bike tour information is posted on the Ames Edible Garden Tour facebook page and will follow this route: http://goo.gl/maps/pQGC6

Please note that garden hosts are not prepared to accommodate tour participants within their homes.

More information is on the Ames Edible Garden Tour facebook page.

These groups are hosting the tour in 2013: ISU Sustainable Agriculture Student Association, AgArts, ISU Community and Regional Planning Graduate Club and the Ames Community Garden Coalition.
