Women, Land and Legacy (WLL) is an outreach project in Iowa that brings women that are interested in agriculture, local food and natural resources together at the local level to converse, listen and become empowered for involvement on their landscape and in their communities. Johnson County is the newest county to become part of this statewide effort.

The Listening Session is an important first step in the WLL process and is an opportunity for local women to connect and network with each other as well as local agencies and organizations.  An important outcome of the Listening Session will be direction and guidance provided by the participants as to information and resources they would like to see in future Learning Sessions, which will commence for years to come.

WLL is sponsored by a partnership of USDA, state and local agencies along with other local organizations and local women.

This event is sponsored by the Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS), Farm Service Agency (FSA), Johnson County Soil and Water Conservation District (Johnson SWCD), IA State University Extension (ISU Extension), and the Leopold Center for Sustainable Agriculture, which has provided a grant from its Competitive Educational Support Program (CESP)  to help contact women in Johnson County.

Pre-registration is available through January 31 - otherwise, register at the door 30 minutes prior to the session. To pre-register, call Wren Almitra at 319-337-2322 (Ext. 3) or go to www.jcswcd.org.
