Women who own or manage farmland in Pocahontas, Buena Vista and neighboring counties are invited to a free conservation discussion focused on soil health. Maintaining healthy soil is the key to productivity and environmental health for our farmland. Women landowners will learn at this meeting how to assess and improve the health of their soils through cover crops, no-till/strip till, and other management practices.
Registration begins at 8:30 a.m. Lunch will be provided, followed by an afternoon field tour and demonstration of simple soil testing you can do on your land. We will walk a short distance into a field, so please bring or wear appropriate footwear. Please RSVP by 4 p.m. Friday, April 11.
This meeting is sponsored by the Women, Food and Agriculture Network with funding from the Iowa Department of Agriculture and Land Stewardship, Division of Soil Conservation.
