ILF Field Day: Prairie Strips Integrated with Row Crops (STRIPs)

The STRIPs project started with research plots at the Neal Smith National Wildlife Refuge near Prairie City. Learn the details of this technique and view the prairie strips area. Hear from Roverud Farm Manager Adam Rodenberg and STRIPs researchers about farming among the strips and the wildlife benefits that this technique brings. The Roverud Family Farm has adopted this technique on several fields on their farm.

The Conservation Station also will be on display, including a rainfall simulator that shows the effects of runoff from different surfaces.

Directions: From the north on Highway 13, turn right onto North High Street. Turn right onto Sandpit Road. From the south on Highway 13, turn left onto South High Street. Travel through Elkader, turning left from North High Street onto Sandpit Road. Go past the County Offices building.
