Back to Leopold Letter Fall 2009
Four finalists were named in the search for a new Leopold Center director. They are Heather Karsten, associate professor of crop and soil sciences at Pennsylvania State University; Frank Louws, professor of plant pathology at North Carolina State University; Ricardo Salvador, a program director in the Food, Health and Wellbeing program of the W.K. Kellogg Foundation; and David Wedin, professor of plant and ecosystem ecology at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.
Each candidate visited campus for two-day interviews that included a public seminar and meetings with various stakeholders. In the seminars, candidates outlined their vision for the Leopold Center and how their experience can contribute to that vision.
The search committee has representatives from ISU as well as the Leopold Center’s advisory board, which will recommend not more than three candidates to Iowa State President Gregory Geoffroy for appointment.
