Leopold Center's budget being cut felt like just one
more huge obstacle," said Robert Karp (right), who

Ames farmer Joe Lynch (front right) was the
first official member of the new "Friends of the
Leopold Center" for people who contribute money for
the center's operation. He suggested the idea to the
Leopold Center several months ago.

centerpieces from natural materials. A number of
Iowa farmers donated food for the event.
