Northeast Iowa Woodland Owners Workshop

Wednesday, January 25, 2017 - 8:00am to Thursday, January 26, 2017 - 4:00pm

The Iowa Department of Natural Resources Forestry Bureau recently received a grant from the U.S. Forest Service–State & Private Grants Program to support education and outreach efforts for woodland owners in northeast Iowa.  As part of this grant they are offering a workshop titled “Social Marketing Strategies for Engaging Landowners.”

This two day workshop will be held Jan. 25-26 at the Edgewood Locker Event Center, Edgewood, Iowa. The workshop is geared towards natural resource professionals and organizations that work with private landowners. It will cover social marketing and communication strategies along with the most recent social science data on private landowners from the National Woodland Owners Survey. There will be time for small group discussions and application of the tools and techniques.

The principles and concepts shared within this workshop will be used to guide and inform landowner outreach efforts taking place through the grant. The workshop is based off of the Sustaining Family Forest Initiative (SFFI) framework called Tools for Engaging Landowners Effectively, which has been a key aspect of the success in several landscape area initiatives including the Driftless Forest Network & My Wisconsin Woods, which will be partnering with us to offer this workshop.

The workshop is free, with both meals and materials being covered by the grant. Space is limited though, so please reserve your spot today at: http://www.surveygizmo.com/s3/3093528/Registration.
