Shivvers Memorial Lecture: Mini-Forest Revolution: Using the Miyawaki Method to Rapidly Rewild Our Communities

Thursday, April 6, 2023 - 5:30pm

Author Hannah Lewis  will present the 2023 Shivvers Memorial Lecture, at 5:30 p.m., Thursday, April 6, in the Iowa State Memorial Union, room 3580.

Lewis, an Iowa State alumnus, is the author of “Mini-Forest Revolution: Using the Miyawaka Method to Rapidly Rewild the World.” The 2022 book, with a foreward by well-known environmentalist Paul Hawken, promotes an international movement to restore biodiversity by transforming empty lots, backyards and degraded land into mini-forests.

The Shivvers lectures, hosted by the Leopold Center for Sustainable Agriculture, are held with support from the Shivvers Family. They continue a series focused on issues of sustainability, agriculture and the food system, initiated in 1969 to honor the memory of John Shivvers, who farmed near Knoxville.
